Frequently Asked Questions

Who is overseeing this project?

The Vermilion Athletic Booster Club (VABC) is working collaboratively with the VHS Athletic Director and a Team of community members. The VABC is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit and is providing financial oversight to ensure that all funds donated are earmarked only for the Field the Future project.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, the VABC is a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit and all donations are 100% tax deductible.

If I make a larger donation, can I make payments over a period of time?

Yes, for certain donor level amounts, there are ongoing contracts available on a 5-year or 10-year program. This is something that can be discussed specific to the donor.

Who will use a new field?

VLSD boys and girls soccer, marching band, track and field, football, softball and baseball (spring practice) and physical education will all have access to the stadium track and field. Community members will also have access for organized youth sports, city recreation sports, regional and local events and VPD training, to name a few.

Why a turf field and not grass?

Turf fields increase and extend playability and improve safety. Turf also lowers maintenance expenses and creates a pesticide-free playing space. Unlike natural grass fields that can become uneven and potentially hazardous due to factors like weather and wear, turf provides a reliable and uniform surface for consistency and safe usage. The overall appearance of the field improves image and helps us to stand out in the community by providing a competitive edge with other schools in our conference.

Who will pay for a turf field?

This project is solely funded by donations and fundraising efforts. The cost of this project will not be paid for with taxpayer dollars. The Vermilion Local School has approved this project but the project will be funded through donations and fundraising efforts.

What is the timeline for this project?

The Field the Future initiative began June 2021.  The Community Outreach Campaign will begin February 2024 with the goal of fundraising for the turf project for projected installation in June 2024.  Fundraising efforts will continue in phase 2 to fund the Stadium renovation project

What will you do with the money if you do not reach your goal or exceed your goal?

If the goal is not reached for the turf by the projected June 2024 date, fundraising efforts will continue for the new field.  Our mission is to raise the needed funds so that our students, athletes and community will be able to use the field in 2024.  If more funds are received, those funds will be used for the Stadium project.

How will donors be recognized?

All donations will be recognized on the VABC Field the Future webpage.  Any donation over $1000 will be recognized on the VABC Field the Future webpage as well as indicated on the Levels of Sponsorship graph.
